Massey University was founded in 1927 as an Agricultural College and has expanded with different faculties ever since. In 1963 it was granted University status. With a 70 year strong tradition of academic excellence, Massey University has formed a strong national and international reputation.
There are campuses in Palmerston North, Wellington and Albany, Auckland. The campus in Palmerston North has been described at ?little Amsterdam? and comprises of 2 parts, split by the Manawatu River. Tutitea across the river from the city holds the Business, Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences Faculties and the Hokowhitu, on the city-side, holds the College of Education sites.
There are 19 000 local and international students, plus another 18 000 students in New Zealand who study by distance education with Massey. The five college structure provides a diversity of degrees, diplomas and certificates. Massey is a leader in the fields of sciences, design, social sciences, education and business.
