Te Puke
Te Puke, the Kiwifruit capital of the World, where the fertile land brings fruit growing, market gardening and dairy farming. To experience the full potential of this Kiwifruit capital, make a trip to Kiwifruit Country, which is 6km East of town. It is a horticultural theme park with a ride that takes you through the orchards and a shop selling kiwifruit products. Another working kiwifruit orchard is Longridge Park, they also have nut, pine and avocadoes. You could feed animals and eels here too. You could even go on a jetboat ride on the Kaituna River for half an hour.
If you are a fan of vintage cars, Te Puke Vintage Auto Barn, is a must see. There is a collection of over 70 vintage and classic cars, all in working order. There is even a tractor from the 1920s.
For those interested in sports, there are plenty of options, an 18-hole golf course, plenty of sports grounds, and solar-heated swimming pool. Maketu is the closest beach, where you can surf or swim. To the South of the town, you can go deer hunting in the hills. Clay Bird Shooting is also available, where you can shoot in the bush, out of the sky or on the ground.
